Since her arrival in Montreal in 1948, Dr. Gyulai has been a tireless worker for civil liberties and an effective advocate of numerous ethnic organizations assisting the adjustment of new Canadians. Active in many humanitarian associations and member of several national commissions, she is the founder of the "Foyer hongrois", a multi-church retirement home. She has also served as a member of the Canadian Consultative Council on Multiculturalism.
