Member of the Order of Canada
- Awarded on: December 14, 1981
- Invested on: April 21, 1982
Coming to Canada from England, and to Vancouver in the 1950s, she has devoted her time, energy and executive ability to the establishment of community organizations. As founder and executive director of the St. James Social Service Society in downtown Vancouver, she greatly expanded its work for those in distress. This accomplishment, and her eloquent exposure of injustices, have won her the support of government agencies.
