A Redemptorist priest from the western Ukraine, he came to Canada in 1948. In the various office he has held he has been involved in many community projects and played an important role in the ecumenical movement. As Ukrainian Archbishop of Winnipeg, and Metropolitan for Ukrainian Catholics in Canada, he continued his work towards a deeper understanding among the peoples of Canada.
