Vancouver architect of creative imagination and international reputation. In partnership with Geoffrey Massey he won the competition for Simon Fraser University in 1963. As head of his own firm since 1972 he has designed such important buildings as the McMillan Bloedel building, the Museum of Archaeology and the Law Courts, all in Vancouver, and the Bank of Canada in Ottawa. The quality of his work has won him the Molson and Royal Bank awards, an American Institute of Architects gold medal and the Auguste Perret prize of the International Union of Architects. (This is a promotion within the Order).
