During the Second World War, Mr. Enkin served on the Wartime Prices and Trade Board and helped thousands of workers from the refugee camps in Europe to settle in Canada. He is a leader of the Toronto Jewish community and a moving force in the Council of Christians and Jews. In recognition of his services to Israel, the University library at Haifa has been named after him.
