After service in the Second World War as commanding officer of a field surgical unit, he entered practice in Moncton and was the first surgeon in that area to perform such complex operations as pacemaker implants. He was president of the New Brunswick Surgical Society and, though retired after 46 years of practice, continues as consultant to the Moncton Hospital.
