A legend in the Arctic who, as one of the first teachers in the North, taught the Loucheux Indians at Fort MacPherson and the Inuit at Port Harrison and Cape Dorset and started schools in Sugluk, Arctic Bay and Wakeham Bay. She has lectured extensively and written six books on the North. In recognition of the exceptional role Miss Hinds has played as a pioneer in the field of Inuit education.
