A renowned pianist and musicologist, Elaine Keillor has enriched our understanding
of Canada’s musical culture. Professor emerita at Carleton University, she has focused
her research on historical and contemporary Canadian music. Notably, her book
Music in Canada has set the standard for study in this field. She has also worked to
preserve the music and culture of Canada’s Indigenous peoples by introducing the study
of their music in universities and by partnering with them to create musical showcases.
