After a distinguished career as an energy consultant, petroleum economist and as Assistant Deputy Minister with the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources, he joined Calgary-based Petro-Canada in 1975 as President, Chief Executive Officer and Director, becoming Chairman in 1979. His encyclopaedic knowledge of energy and of the environment in which the industry operates has enabled him to skillfully guide the development of the company into a major component of this country's petroleum industry.
