An English-born Canadian, he was First Secretary and Consul at the Embassy in Tehran during the Islamic Revolution. At the time of the fall of the Shah, he took an active part in the evacuation arrangements for Canadians in Iran, including the bus convoy from the Caspian Sea to Tehran airport for those who could not be-moved by air. He was also closely involved in the sheltering of the six Americans and in their escape.
