An Elder of the Malecite Indian Reserve in New Brunswick, he has contributed greatly to the study of the ethnology and linguistics of the North American Indian, promoting consistency and uniformity in the way Indian sounds are written. It is due to his efforts as a linguist, historian and restorer of Indian artifacts that much of the Malecite history and language have survived.
