Born in Newfoundland, she was Director of the United Services Organization at Corner Brook during the Second World War. Moving to British Columbia and later to Saskatchewan, she has championed many social, educational and humanitarian causes, notably the Arthritis and Rheumatism Society. She is now an alderman of Moose Jaw and executive director of the XYZ Society, which provides fitness programmes for the elderly and handicapped.
