She has introduced to Canada the Cansurmount Programme, through which specially trained former cancer patients help victims who are having difficulty coping with the disease. Her pioneering work in the establishment of branch programmes and the training of Cansurmount visitors has earned her the Canadian Medical Association Medal of Honour and the Alberta Achievement Award.
