Admired as a writer of stories that reflect the history of the Chinese community in Vancouver, Wayson Choy is equally known as a passionate, caring and motivating teacher. He is deeply committed to nurturing the process of self-awareness and discovery in his students. The humanity that he reflects in his writing is also very much present in his personal life. Working from a place of compassion and true understanding of life's joys and sorrows, he consistently gives of himself, whether for the crusade against AIDS or through teaching at shelters for abused women, runaways and homeless children.
