Originally from British Columbia, this Quebec resident is presently Science Advisor to the Department of the Environment. He is not only one of Canada's premier geologists, but also a surveyor, geophysicist, oceanographer and mountaineer, whose intimate knowledge of the polar regions has earned him major awards from Britain, Norway, the U.S.A. and the U.S.S.R., as well as from his native land.
