Although a biochemist by profession, he devoted the major portion of his illustrious career to popularizing scientific education through radio, televisions and films. The first Canadian recipient of UNESCO's prestigious Kalinga Prize in 1978, he was known to French-speaking Canada as the man who transformed science into one of the human spirit's most exciting intellectual adventures.
