A lively social historian, she is a well respected scholar and spokesperson who was responsible, in large part, for the proclamation of the Ontario Heritage Act. The result has been a variety of thriving heritage preservation activities. Her interest in the histories of early Kingston families, combined with an expertise in the history of dress, led to the formation of a remarkable collection of antique Canadian costumes at Queen's University.
