Veronica Tennant's passionate commitment to the future of Canada's performing arts and artists makes her a compelling advocate and a much-admired champion. Celebrated as one of Canada's pre-eminent dancers, she has been a catalyst for the evolution of Canadian dance and choreography. Since her retirement as the National Ballet of Canada's prima ballerina, she has become a critically acclaimed independent filmmaker as well as a director, producer and writer. Her unsurpassed artistic gifts have made her a powerful creative force in developing emerging talent. As national ambassador for UNICEF Canada, she has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of children around the world. This is a promotion within the Order.
