University research professor at Memorial University and director of the Patient Research Centre at the Health Care Corporation of St. John's, Patrick Parfrey is an internationally renowned scientist and clinical epidemiologist. A leading expert on cardiac disease in kidney patients, he is also known for his innovative research on end-stage renal disease. An advocate of multidisciplinary research, he has been involved in important collaborative studies, including CANPREVENT. In addition, he has provided outstanding leadership to the sport of rugby, coaching teams at the local, provincial and national levels and serving as president of Rugby Canada.
