William Buyers is internationally renowned for his work in condensed matter physics, particularly in the field of magnetism, and as a leader in the development of the Canadian Neutron Beam Centre. Within his community, he has enhanced the music scene of the Upper Ottawa Valley as a director of various orchestras and choirs. Although retired from the National Research Council Canada, he continues to pursue research on quantum magnetism and superconductors.
