Through his talent and through the breadth and quality of his work, Robert Bourdeau has become one of Canada's pre-eminent artist-photographers. Self-taught, he developed a personal approach to photographing landscapes early on and is considered a pioneer in his field in Canada. Known for his monochromatic photos, he is renowned as a master of light. He has travelled worldwide to practise his art, with subjects ranging from natural to urban landscapes, and from still lifes to architectural studies. His works have been acquired by major galleries, including the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography in Ottawa and the International Center of Photography in New York.
