For more than 50 years, Janet Gardiner has been a significant force in the business and community sectors of Newfoundland and Labrador. An executive with her family company, she became the first female chartered accountant in the province. Her expertise and business acumen have benefited many corporate and educational boards, including those of Fishery Products International and Memorial University of Newfoundland. She has also generously supported community and cultural organizations, including the Tuckamore Festival, the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra and the Salvation Army. She continues to be a role model for business and community leaders in her province.
