Daphne Dumont has made lasting contributions to Canada's legal system. A small-firm general practitioner, she is highly regarded for her long-standing volunteer work with the Canadian Bar Association (CBA). As its president, she worked to expand and strengthen legal aid programs, improving access to justice for the disadvantaged. She has also promoted equality rights for women as a founder of the national test-case organization the Women's Legal Education and Action Fund, and as a member of the CBA's task force on gender equality in the legal profession.
