Edward Finn was an esteemed journalist and author, and the first political leader of the Newfoundland New Democratic Party. A long-time columnist for the Toronto Star, he wrote on a range of subjects from labour and economics to politics. His principled commentary on social justice shone bright in The Monitor, a monthly journal he founded for the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, and in the books he authored.
