Bernard Saladin d'Anglure has spent over 55 years working to preserve and educate others about Inuit culture. A renowned anthropologist and one of the leading experts on shamanism and the Inuit, he is a guardian of what was being forgotten: customs, myths, and the names of places and people. Professor emeritus at Université Laval, he founded the Groupe d'études inuit et circumpolaires, which later became the Centre interuniversitaire d'études et de recherches autochtones (CIÉRA), and he contributed to the university's ranking as one of the top world-class centres for education and research on the Inuit and Aboriginal peoples.
