Margaret Bloodworth has made important contributions to public administration in Canada. She served as the deputy minister for the departments of Transport Canada and National Defence, and was the first deputy minister of Public Safety. Her leadership within the Transport department was instrumental throughout Canada's response to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in the United States. She was widely respected both nationally and internationally as Canada's national security advisor, the first woman in the country's intelligence community to hold such a prominent position.
