Gaston Déry has been committed to the environment and to showcasing our natural heritage for over 40 years. As a forestry engineer, he was the driving force behind the first policy to protect Quebec’s green spaces. He has distinguished himself through his efforts to preserve the biodiversity of the Lower St. Lawrence Estuary, revitalizing and developing the Île aux Pommes and having it recognized as a nature reserve, thereby ensuring that it is protected in perpetuity.
