For her contributions to the social and economic well-being of her people, notably in securing a historic urban treaty.
Kim Baird is a driver of transformational change. At the age of 29, she was elected chief of the Tsawwassen First Nation and served for six consecutive terms. She was responsible for negotiating and implementing British ColumbiaÆs first urban treaty, giving her people ownership and governance over their land and resources. She has shared her expertise in First Nations policy, governance and economic development with the broader community, and sits on several boards and committees. Also an important role model, she strongly supports the leadership development of young women.
