From March 2020 to February 2023, Lieutenant-Commander Drake supported the response to the COVID-19 pandemic as the fleet support medical officer (Pacific). He provided complex and comprehensive medical advice to sailors, Health Services and Royal Canadian Navy leadership. His clinical knowledge and development of pre-embarkation protocols allowed the Fleet Commander to provide the Canadian Armed Forces with its largest COVID-19-free force. Lieutenant-Commander Drake’s expertise directly contributed to a sustainable rotation of ships able to respond and react to any contingency.
