As commander of Allied Joint Force Command Naples, Admiral Foggo was the superior commander of the Canadian-led NATO mission Iraq from October 2018 to July 2020. His leadership and operational acumen were instrumental in planning and successfully executing a critical component of Canada’s ongoing commitment to NATO. He was often in the Joint Area of Operations, conducting battlefield circulation and leading key strategic and political-level engagements. He also provided mentorship and command guidance to the successive Canadian commanders of this mission. Admiral Foggo’s actions directly contributed to Canada’s success in the mission.
