From August 2018 to April 2019, Major Bird was deployed to Iraq, initially as the forward-deployed liaison officer and then as the Base Support Group chief. He established key relations with partners that led to greater efficiency in setting up initial logistical arrangements and coordinating strategic activities. This paved the way to critical operational agreements. Major Bird demonstrated immense resourcefulness and unwavering resolve in making a vital contribution to the mission’s success and bringing great credit to himself and to Canada.
