During his deployment as sergeant major of Joint Task Force Ukraine from September 2018 to April 2019, Chief Warrant Officer Gagnon played a key role in the training and professional development of Ukrainian and Canadian non-commissioned officers. Through his leadership and mental agility, he distinguished himself as an advisor to the operations Commander and quickly established trust with Ukrainian senior officers and non-commissioned officers at various training institutions. Chief Warrant Officer Gagnon’s achievements brought about significant changes in Ukrainian military culture, bringing honour to Canada.
