In September 2017, Commander Decicco took over as commanding officer of HMCS Charlottetown following the sudden repatriation of his predecessor. In the five months that followed, he adapted quickly to take part in NATO’s operations in the North Atlantic Ocean and the Baltic Sea, and expertly led his crew in monitoring the region in the eastern Mediterranean off the coast of Syria. Commander Decicco’s professionalism contributed to the Charlottetown crew’s excellent international reputation and brought honour to Canada.
