From July 2017 to July 2018, Colonel Oberwarth demonstrated exceptional leadership in conducting combat operations involving five multinational brigades as part of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. As deputy chief of staff operations and plans and commander of Task Force Democratic Republic of the Congo, he used an inclusive approach by enhancing the engagement of women and civilians in the mission. During his deployment, he faced challenges and institutional changes with calm and professionalism, which earned him admiration and respect and contributed to the success of the United Nations mission.
