On 17 March 2018, Ordinary Seaman Lapointe and three comrades saved a man who had been seriously wounded in a stabbing incident in Langford, British Columbia. Quickly taking control of the situation and the crowd, Ordinary Seaman Lapointe first directed his colleagues to treat the victim. He then confronted the assailants—still present on the scene and armed with knives—by repeatedly asking for their names. When help arrived, he told the police officers where the attackers had fled to and helped identify them. He also reported the victim’s injuries and interim care to paramedics. His caring and determination during this incident brought great honour to the Canadian Armed Forces.
