Chief of the Department of Ophthalmology at Cornwall General Hospital and Hotel Dieu, Cornwall, Garth Taylor has used his expertise to help those with visual problems, not only in Canada but also in developing countries. He has become skilled in microscopic eye surgery and cornea transplants, and laser eye surgery, as well as special surgical instruments he has devised himself. From 1984 to 1987, he served as President of Project ORBIS Canada and is currently a Board Member. He is a visiting Professor of ORBIS International and a member of its International Program Advisory Council. In 1989, he became Vice-President and Co-Founder of CAN S.E.E. (Canadian Surgical Eye Expeditions). Dr. Taylor is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. He often travels at his own expense to treat and to improve the visual health of patients in developing countries.
