After receiving a diagnosis of Sjögren’s syndrome, an autoimmune disorder that affects over 400 000 Canadians, Lee Durdon started the Sjögren’s Society of Canada to support other patients and increase awareness of this often-misdiagnosed condition. Her determination and organizational skills have resulted in an annual educational conference, research grants and greater access to health care for those affected by the disorder.
