    In 1995, RCMP Sgt Kevin Graham, now retired, implemented the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program in Alberta. Through this initiative, police officers are trained to provide education to children dealing with substance abuse. Sgt Graham produced a video and information package for his colleagues, and travelled to every detachment in Alberta to promote the program. His endeavour generated interest from national police and community leaders, and led to the initial training of 30 RCMP members nationwide. Today, there are some 700 trained officers across the country implementing the program for the benefit of Canada’s youth.
