Jacques Bréhin, M.S.M., Normandy, France
Meritorious Service Medal (civil division)
President and founder of the Association pour le Souvenir des Ailes de la Victoire de Normandie, Jacques Bréhin, a citizen of France, was the driving force behind the creation of the Typhoon Pilots Memorial, a monument dedicated to the memory of the Typhoon pilots, including 201 Canadians, who were killed in action during World War II. Through his commitment and determination, Mr. Bréhin obtained the necessary support from the French government for the Memorial, found and secured the site, and raised the necessary funds for its construction. Located in the village of Noyers-Bocage, Normandy, the monument was unveiled in June 1990.
