Since their two children were diagnosed with cystic fibrosis in 1977, Mr. and Mrs. Thompson have devoted their time and efforts towards the improvement of health care for children with cystic fibrosis both in Canada and abroad. Thanks to their dedication, public awareness of the disease has increased and funds have been raised to establish programs which enhance the quality of life for patients and their families. In addition, Mr. Thompson founded, in 1985, the Danny Gallivan Golf Tournament and the "Match of Champions" Hockey event and Mrs. Thompson founded, in 1989, the Cystic Fibrosis Mothers' Support Group. The Thompsons are a valued resource and an inspiration for parents of children with cystic fibrosis.
