Robert Misericordia, M.S.M., Sooke, B.C.
Meritorious Service Medal (civil division)
During the 1990 Gulf Crisis, Mr. Misericordia, a Canadian employed at the Commonwealth Bank of Kuwait, hid four American and two British citizens in his attic for four months. He harboured them from the Iraqi Army and tended to their needs and safety. Displaying admirable resolve and great courage, he stood undaunted when confronted by Iraqi soldiers and Palestinian robbers.
