    Mr. Fernández Meyer, an emergency medical technician, has devoted countless time and energy towards the betterment of his community. Since his arrival in Canada, this public-spirited individual has been the driving force behind several fund-raising efforts and community endeavours. In particular, he coordinated an educational program on CPR, encouraged the St. Albert Fire Department to be tested, in 1993, for the National Bone Marrow Registry, and produced videos for the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and the Canadian Mental Health Association to raise public awareness on health issues.
