Bernard Nourry, M.S.M., Caen, France
Meritorious Service Medal (civil division)
Mr. Nourry, a citizen of France, has gone to extraordinary lengths to preserve the memory of the contribution that Canadian soldiers made to the war effort in France. It was his proposal for an association of towns and villages liberated by Canadians that led to the 1985 creation of the Comité JUNO, which worked with the Canadian Battle of Normandy Foundation to erect the Canadian part of the peace memorial in Caen. He also helped organize a number of activities to commemorate D-Day.
