    In 1990, Brenda Eng, a nurse, founded the first free-standing hospice for terminally-ill children in North America known as Canuck Place - HUGS (Human Understanding, Growth and Sharing) Children's Hospice Society. Ms. Eng is an enthusiastic and dedicated individual whose selfless devotion has deeply touched the lives of many Canadians. Notably, she is actively involved in several public relations and fundraising programs, and serves as a liaison officer with many community and hospital-based agencies dedicated to providing pediatric hospice care both in Canada and abroad.
