Doctor Gerald Mitchel Fried was one of the first Canadian surgeons to use minimally invasive surgical techniques and to practice laparoscopic operations in Canada. He also helped to train new physicians in Canada through the program he established at McGill University that has since become a global standard in the field of minimally invasive surgery.
