Thanks to his efforts, his dedication and his involvement in the Association's activities, Mr. Bellemare has contributed to increasing the understanding of the prosecutors' role while promoting international cooperation on criminal justice and human rights issues. Bellemare served as chief prosecutor for the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, tasked with investigating the assassination of Lebanese prime minister Rafic Hariri. His efforts were instrumental in reorienting the investigation, notably by drafting the Tribunal’s first indictment.
