Rank: Master Corporal
On January 15, 2006, Master Corporal Anthony was the second-in-command of a patrol that was the target of a suicide attack carried out with a vehicle rigged with improvised explosive devices, the largest attack of its type ever seen in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Through the chaos and carnage, and without concern for his own safety, Master Corporal Anthony took actions that ensured the survival of two wounded Afghan children and two fellow soldiers trapped in a burning vehicle. His clarity of thought and ability to perform steadfastly in a tragic and hazardous situation brought great credit to him, to his unit and to the Canadian Forces.
