While serving with the United Nations Military Observer Force in Sarajevo, Captain Doucette was thrown 10 meters by the blast of a mortar bomb explosion on July 17, 1995. Under continuous shelling and despite injuries, he rushed to the aid of another wounded soldier and moved him to the safety of a protected area. Captain Doucette's actions in dangerous circumstances were of the highest form of dedication and courage expected of a Canadian Officer and reflects great credit on the Canadian Forces and Canada.
