On February 9, 2012, David Burns rescued a man whose vehicle had broken through the ice on Chemong Lake near Lakefield, Ontario. Mr. Burns heard the victim's screams for help and ran to the scene. He lay down on the thin surface and pulled the man, who by that time had lost consciousness, out of the water and dragged him to safety.
