On February 7, 2012, Paula Goossen rescued her son and another boy who had fallen through the ice of a deep pond in Hays, Saskatchewan. Mrs. Goossen climbed over a safety fence surrounding the pond and ran out onto the thin ice to reach the boys. She crawled to the edge of the hole where they had fallen through and pulled them out one by one. Others then helped her bring the boys to safety.
